With three decades of professional experience, Mr. Cartagena is a profit-driven manager who believes in a hands-on management style. He continuously strives for improvements within operations, and he loves working with people and on engineering projects. For the past three years, Mr. Cartagena has served as the director of engineering and an executive committee member for Doubletree, a Hilton Metropolitan Hotel located in midtown Manhattan. He utilizes his expertise in engineering, heating, air conditioning and ventilation to supervise the maintenance of the building. He is responsible for 759 guest rooms that are currently undergoing a full renovation and 12,000 square feet of meeting room space. His further responsibilities include overseeing the restaurant, bar and preventative maintenance for the hotel, overseeing all equipment on the property, and supervising 20 union staff members.
In 1980, Mr. Cartagena earned an associate degree in business administration from the Borough of Manhattan Community College. He is a certified New York State Notary and the board president for a Mitchell Lama Development in the lower east side of Manhattan. Looking toward the future, Mr. Cartagena aspires to attain an executive management role and do more within the hotel industry.
