Online Poker Star, JAMIE 'HURST05' HURST, Crowned SPT Cardiff Champion
Online poker player Jamie Hurst wins Sky Poker Tour Cardiff and GBP3,300 at Les Croupiers Casino.
BRENTFORD, ENGLAND, July 27, 2011 /Leisure - Hospitality PR News/ -- Sky Poker, the popular online poker room from the UK, turned terrestrial once again as they hosted the final Sky Poker Tour leg ahead of the SPT Grand Final in Nottingham. With 161 players taking their places at Les Croupier Casino in Cardiff, it was Sheffield youngster Jamie 'hurst05' Hurst who won the title, GBP3,300 and a seat into the upcoming Sky Poker Tour Grand Final in Nottingham.
The final table included two SPT Champions and some of the most aggressive young online poker pros from Skypoker.com, making it an explosive final table. Lewis 'Browndogg' Taylor and John 'diggerman' Blaynee had both won titles on the Tour before, while Pryce6 and Hurst05 came to the final table as the two dominating chip leaders. It proved that the chips would prove too big an advantage for the rest to overcome.
With Jamie 'ricoramb03' Richards eliminated in 9th, Nick 'pryce6' Pryce decided it was time to try and boss the table, but the plan backfired after he lost a big part of his chip stack calling an all-in shove with K-Q. It proved to be behind his opponent's A-J, and the K-Q didn't improve for Nick. He was eliminated shortly after in 8th place for GBP550.
With one of the final table chip leaders hitting the rail, the other navigated the waters more successfully, with Hurst beating Dan Royle and Carl 'Timber' Taylor to the title. Incredibly this was Taylor's second ever live game, the first being the night before, and he took the lion's share of the cash after a three-way deal was agreed with Royle and Hurst.
New Team Sky Poker member 'Ebberdon' was the unfortunate bubbly boy in Cardiff, but he still booked himself a consolation prize to a Sunday Primo - a tournament Hurst came second in the following day for GBP2,000. A good weekend for the young man!
The Sky Poker Tour now moves onto the GBP40,000 Guaranteed Grand Final at DTD in Nottingham on September 2011-11. Satellites to win entry into this event are already in the Sky Poker lobby, and direct entry for GBP220 is available too.
